BTRC 2022 To Run Exclusively on Giti Race-Tuned V1 Tyres

For the very first time the British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC) will run exclusively on Giti Race-Tuned v1 global competition truck tyres in size 315/70R22.5.

The deal means that Giti Tire, which has retained its role as BTRC’s Official Tyre Partner, will be fitted on all 20 trucks across seven events which make up the 2022 season.

The manufacturer will also have two fully liveried trucks in all races thanks to Team Oliver, which will be driven by Stuart Oliver and his son, Michael Oliver.

The season opener took place at Brands Hatch over the weekend of April 16-17, with the team securing both a first and second place finish over the five races.

Round two took place at Pembrey on May 7-8 before going onto Thruxton, Donington, Snetterton, Pembrey again and the season conclusion back at Brands Hatch on November 6-7.

Three of the races coincide with hugely popular family events Convoy Cymru, Convoy on the Plain and Convoy in the Park which feature a range of truck, manufacturer and exhibitor displays plus stunt shows, live music and children’s entertainment.

Tony McHugh, TBR Sales and Marketing Director UK at Giti Tire, said: “We’ve had an excellent partnership with the BTRC for many years, and to take it forward into 2022 as exclusive tyre supplier really is a huge privilege and a massive boost for the Giti brand.

“As well as all the excellent marketing and social media opportunities it represents, we know that many of the teams find themselves working day-to-day in the transport sector and once they’ve experienced the Giti Race-Tuned v1 they doubtless want to know more about the truck and bus portfolio.”
