Commercial vehicle registrations post further gains in September

CV demand continued to grow strongly in September, with registrations up 20.1% to 65,453 units, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Trucks led the way in the month with a gain of 24.8%, while vans posted a 19.6% rise.

Boosted by the new 65-plate, overall CV registrations were up by a fifth in the month, led by a 24.8% increase in trucks, while van demand grew 19.6%.
Mike Hawes, Chief Executive, SMMT, said, “The continued recovery of the commercial vehicle market is good to see.

“Particularly encouraging is the consistent growth seen this year in the traditionally more volatile truck sector, while the van market – buoyed by robust business confidence and the ongoing trend towards online deliveries – shows no sign of slowing.”
