DAF Trucks virtual truck show attracts 700 entrants

DAF Trucks has selected three winners after its virtual truck show last Bank Holiday weekend attracted an impressive 700 entrants.

The show, taking place after the truck industry’s traditional show season had been shelved, was promoted on DAF Trucks UK Social Media channels where it reached audience figures of 55,000.

The event coincided with the VE Day 75 Bank Holiday commemorations with DAF Trucks inviting drivers to polish-up their vehicles and present them for judging as they would at any ‘live’ truck show.

Three category winners have now been selected, with trophies going to:

  • ‘Best Working DAF Truck’ – Fred Forman (P&L Forman)
  • ‘Best Show DAF Truck’ – Stephen Rimmer (Hurst Bros. Ltd)
  • ‘Best Classic DAF or Leyland Truck’ – Brian Callery’s DAF 3300 ATi

The winners and their respective companies earn themselves a DAF Driver magazine trophy and a professional photo-shoot to feature in future issues of the magazine.

The winning trucks will also take pride-of-place on the DAF Trucks stand at Truckfest Peterborough, rescheduled for 30th and 31st August.

A further 20 tickets to the show, provided courtesy of Live Promotions, have been awarded to DAF’s virtual truck show runners-up.

“We were delighted with the reaction from drivers and owner-operators,” said DAF Trucks’ Social Media Manager, Martin Pidsley.

“55,000 hits over one weekend is a remarkable response. What has been clear after judging all the entrants, is the pride and passion that truck drivers have in their vehicles. We’re looking forward to seeing the winners’ trucks adorning the pages of DAF Driver magazine soon.”
