DSV launch a new unaccompanied trailer service between UK and Europe

DSV has launched a Full Load unaccompanied trailer service to and from Germany, Central and Eastern Europe.

The service will ship via Immingham to Rotterdam. The haulage operation both in the UK and within Europe will be provided by its own fleet of tractor units. The import flows operate in reverse.

With Brexit on the horizon, DSV is continuously seeking to provide solutions that offer both alternative modes of transport and shipping routes for moving goods in and out of Europe. Utilising DSV trailers and operating a combination of the UK and European based haulage fleet it is able to provide a flexible and reliable service.

The service will be launched in phases, predominantly covering full load movements in phase one with part load and groupage solutions being offered in phase two.

When goods are less time-sensitive and not perishable, the unaccompanied service can be very beneficial in terms of cost and availability. The UK driver will collect and drop the trailer at the port for export, from there the ferry company will ship the trailer to Europe. Once on the quay, one of DSV’s  European based tractor units will collect the trailer and deliver to the client. The import operation will be conducted as above but obviously in reverse, with DSV providing complete tracking of consignments via the myDSV portal.
