Two more Scania trucks have achieved a five-star rating in Euro NCAP’s Safer Trucks Programme.
Joining Scania’s L-cab 6×2 refuse truck, which received Euro NCAP’s top rating in January 2026, are a pair of P-cab trucks in 4×2 distribution and 6×2 utility forms.
Alongside the P-cabs, a L-cab 4×2 rigid chassis was also tested and received an overall score of 90%, which was praised by Euro NCAP’s testers for boasting exceptional direct vision and for robust safety equipment ensuring it is a leader in all-round protection when specified with full safety equipment options.
Lars Gustafsson, Head of Trucks at Scania CV AB, said: “To see our P-cab follow suit and receive the same high rating as our L-cab refuse truck shows that safety is something we put our pride in.
“Our trucks deliver on our promise to not only have great comfort, but also safety that is on par with the highest standards of the Euro NCAP.
“Safe trucks are vital given the importance transport has in society. The safety of road users is something we always keep in mind while developing new transport solutions.
“It is also proof that we deliver on the increasingly high expectations from cities, customers, transport buyers and road users, in line with our values.”

The P-cab is one of Scania’s most versatile cab types. It’s ideal for urban and regional operations and is often chosen by operators for construction, and other demanding jobs. A robust choice that allows drivers to sit high enough to get a good view of the traffic ahead.
The addition of Scania’s City Door also enhances visibility.
Alongside the five star rating, the cab also scored the highest mark in Euro NCAP’s CitySafe testing, which rates features on heavy duty vehicles designed to prevent accidents in urban environments.
With its low cab position and corner-eye camera system, the P-cab gives the driver high visibility of vulnerable road users.
This recently updated accident prevention system achieved an overall score of 93% on Euro
NCAP’s testing, which is a testament to the high performance and reliability of Scania’s active safety technology.
Scania’s advanced driver systems, which includes frontal collision mitigation, lane departure prevention, and Vulnerable Road User Brake Side (VRUBS), which protects cyclists during turning manoeuvres, delivered excellent results, with the latter achieving an 100% score.
Matthew Avery, Director for Strategic Development at Euro NCAP, said: “It is great to see Scania leading the way in safety by producing safer trucks for the city environment and in so doing protecting Europe’s more vulnerable road users – a real achievement.”
