IT Company Manages 100 Million Parcels a Year for DPD in 5 Countries

Behind every delivered parcel today there isn’t just a courier but also millions of lines of code that must work flawlessly. In the case of DPD, one of Europe’s largest delivery companies, the solution comes from Slovakia.

Our collaboration with DPD in Slovakia began intensively, taking over the core of their systems and subsequently rebuilding them. Today, for DPD in five countries within our client portfolio, we process approximately 500,000 parcels, 5 million scans, and tens of thousands of notifications daily. The success of this partnership also explains why we are among DPD’s five largest IT partners in the Netherlands.

Fores has developed a comprehensive suite of systems that cover the entire parcel lifecycle, from order placement to billing data. Their solution integrates shipping labels, courier mobile apps, internal logistics tools, a customer portal, and even a customs declaration system.

For example, the Shipper module is now the main ordering tool for hundreds of DPD clients and offers an interface in seven languages. It supports different tax rates, address formats, service types, and can automatically translate documentation based on the country of origin and destination.

At the core of it all lies the robust data backend, the Operational Data Store (ODS). This system processes massive volumes of data transactions daily to provide real time parcel tracking and optimize logistics.

Modularity That Thinks Like DPD

What makes the Fores Technology Group solution stand out is not just its functionality but its flexibility and localization. Each country has its own customs rules, service types, billing cycles, and warehouse requirements. Fores created a system that accommodates these differences without rewriting the entire codebase.

For DPD, the partnership with the Slovak team means being able to quickly expand services and launch new products without waiting months for intervention from central IT.

“Thanks to you, we’ve been able to develop software more agilely than ever before,” says Christian Habraken, IT Director at DPD NL

A Quiet Tech Hero from Slovakia

At first glance, it may seem like an unassuming story: a Slovak company without branches in major European capitals. But behind the scenes, it’s about more than 1.2 million lines of code, a team of developers, analysts, and IT architects building state-of-the-art systems every day for one of Europe’s biggest logistics players.

Fores Technology Group is proof that Slovak know-how can succeed in the most demanding markets.
Software developed in Bratislava today helps deliver millions of parcels every day quickly, securely and reliably.
