Palletline Passes Four ISO Accreditations with Flying Colours

UK palletised distribution specialist Palletline has once again been reaccredited for four ISO standards for the fourth year running.

After being assessed by the British Assessment Bureau, they were certified for the ISO 9001, 140001, 45001 and 50001. Each are standards which demonstrate that Palletline meets the necessary management criteria for quality, the environment and health and safety and energy management.

Achieving the 50001 standard once again was the pick of the bunch for Palletline as they are one of only a select few businesses within the UK’s transport and logistics industry to currently hold such an accreditation. Moreover, Palletline is the only pallet specialist in the UK to have secured this standard.

Despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic, Palletline’s commitment to prioritising health and safety, safeguarding the environment and quality never once wavered throughout this turbulent period.

Its culture of striving to achieve excellence, even in the face of the unprecedented challenges, has largely been instilled by Ken Bell, Palletline’s Health and Safety Manager who was instrumental in the company’s reaccreditation for the four ISO standards – with notable mention to health and safety which not only extended across the business but throughout the Palletline network also.

Such was the thoroughness of his efforts that during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ken even invited representatives from an external pallet company to come in and review Palletline’s safety and testing processes.

With a genuine desire to minimise risks and ensure the safety and wellbeing of the company’s staff Ken audits each of the company’s members to ensure that they adhered to the same levels of quality and excellence of Palletline.

Ken is a qualified health and safety auditor to 45001 and has recently completed the 9001 quality lead auditors’ course and is set to undergo various environmental courses. Palletline Facilities Manager Rob Carney is also a qualified 50001 auditor which complemented the process in helping to achieve the four ISO accreditations. Ken has recently been awarded the Best Health and Safety Manager title in this year’s Safety and Health Excellence Awards.

Committed Staff

Ken Bell commented: “Palletline is delighted to once again secure our ISO accreditations with zero non-conformances. It is truly a remarkable achievement in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and testament to the commitment of Palletline staff to health and safety from the boardroom through to the warehouse.

“We were especially pleased to once again secure the 50001 standard as it establishes Palletline as an industry leader in energy management. Whilst this was a difficult ISO accreditation to pass as, unlike some other accreditations, you have to show year on year development which we were able to do as we are continuously showing improvement in our energy management year on year.

“Ensuring the staff fully understood each and every process and procedure played a pivotal role in achieving these standards, as the auditors question the team about their roles, the processes they follow and Palletline’s health and safety policy. Therefore, making sure that not only was the culture right, but that the team also understood their roles and job functions, was paramount.

“This is in part achieved through a bespoke induction programme which is tailored to the individual areas that our staff work in from top to bottom.  Thereafter, every process and procedure they are expected to follow and work to is gone through verbally as well as through a demonstration, which is closely followed by a written test in which they have to explain why they are doing whatever the particular process or procedure is.

“Such commitment to drive improvement throughout all aspects of the business has ensured that Palletline is setting the industry standard and we are delighted that this has been recognised once again with our latest accreditations.”
