It was certainly a night to remember at the Export & Freight Transport & Logistics Awards.
With more entries than ever before, and the largest gathering over the 14 years of the event, the night had many highlights, not least the standing ovation for the Transport Personality of the Year, Andy Magowan, Managing Director of TBF Thompson (Garvagh) Ltd.
In his acceptance speech, Andy spoke about being totally surprised and almost ‘lost for words.’ His secret for success? “There’s no substitute for hard work.”

It was a double celebration for Sawyers Transport Ltd, picking up both the award for Chilled Operator of the Year and Greener, Safer Fleet, while the Fleet Truck of the Year award went to the Volvo FH. Perhaps fittingly, the award for European Haulier of the Year went to the McBurney Transport Group who are celebrating their 50th successful year in business.
