The Commercial Vehicle Show is delighted to announce that Women in Transport will be the official Chair and sponsor of ‘Driven By Her’, part of Celebrating Every Journey (CEJ) – a new ambassador programme, which champions diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and future talent across the road transport sector.
The CEJ initiative has been created to drive positive change for the sector, by bringing in leading voices from across the industry. Through a series of dedicated themes, the programme will spotlight various issues affecting the future of transport and encourage collaboration between businesses, organisations and individuals.
Within this, Driven By Her focuses on tackling the barriers that women face from the outset when entering the industry, as well as challenges with progression and remaining in the sector long-term. Driven By Her shines a spotlight on female leadership, and highlights achievements and success stories.
As the leading UK not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women across the sector, Women in Transport has become one of the industry’s most influential voices. Through mentoring, networking, advocacy and research, Women in Transport plays a crucial role in tackling the gender imbalances and helping more women build successful careers in a traditionally male-dominated sector.
The partnership will see Women in Transport help shape Driven By Her, ensuring it reflects the experiences, challenges and opportunities facing women across the industry.
As part of this partnership, Shireen Ali-Khan, Behaviour and Engagement Specialist at Active Consulting Group and Lead Programme Director and Research Advisor at Women in Transport, will speak during a dedicated session on the third day of the show (23 April). Shireen is a leading voice on workforce behaviour and engagement, with a track record of working with some of the world’s largest and most complex organisations including HS2, Crossrail, Transport for London, the Metropolitan Police and NASA.
Delivered in partnership with Clare Murphy, Head of HR at the Road Haulage Association, the session will present joint research on intergenerational workforce dynamics. It will explore how organisations can build the conditions for different generations to work together effectively, and what the commercial vehicle and logistics sector can learn from the data on workforce behaviour, belonging and performance. The session will combine research findings with an interactive discussion, giving attendees the opportunity to explore what this means for their own organisations.
Nick Davison, Event Director for the Commercial Vehicle Show, said: “Celebrating Every Journey has been created to shine a spotlight on the people shaping the future of our sector, and we are delighted to welcome Women in Transport as Chair and sponsor of ‘Driven By Her’.
Women in Transport has been instrumental in driving positive change across the industry, making it the ideal partner to help us champion greater representation, create opportunities and inspire the next generation of women in transport.”
