The Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) Ireland North Centre will be hosting the second in a three-part series on hydrogen fuel technology on Thursday 29th April at 19.30.
This presentation follows a previous event which introduced the latest innovations in hydrogen fuel cell technology in the transport sector and will, this time, focus on the practicalities of operating and maintaining hydrogen powered commercial vehicles.
The webinar will feature Ireland North Education Officer, Michael Hutchinson MSOE MIRTE MIMI of Transport Training Services; Dr Peter Watters CEng FIMechE FIEI, Brian Elliott CEng MIMechE and Martin Madine of Translink.
Michael Hutchinson will outline Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (HFCEV) in terms of the development of modern motor vehicles.
Dr Peter Watters will present on design innovation in the US and EU which have led to current H2FCEV single and double-deck buses, along with an overview of the operation and maintenance of the innovative components as elements of a low/no carbon solution.
Dr Watters will also discuss skill development pathways for young engineers and their role in on-going development. He will cover cost reduction in his presentation to help make hydrogen a cost-effective solution.
Brian Elliott and Martin Madine of Translink will give some feedback on the Belfast OLEV Hydrogen bus project in 2020/21. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
