Logistics UK Chief Executive raising funds for veterans

Logistics UK’s Chief Executive, David Wells OBE, will be switching his Tunbridge Wells office for a pavement this spring, by taking part in a Great Tommy Sleep Out event on 14 March.

The activity will bring together some of the UK’s most influential business leaders to raise vital funds and awareness for the 6,000 veterans experiencing homeless in the UK.

The participants will be sleeping out under a shelter at Fort Amhurst in Kent, and the funds raised will help Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI) provide safe, warm housing and ensure everyone has a fair opportunity to gain employment, regardless of health conditions or disability.

David Wells said: “Many veterans struggle with the return to civilian life, which, in some cases, can result in homelessness, and it is vital that efficient support mechanisms are widely accessible. I am therefore extremely proud to be getting together with other business leaders to support RBLI and help change veterans’ lives for the better.

“The logistics sector provides a wealth of opportunities for those who have formerly served – there are currently many veterans employed in the UK logistics industry – and I would urge anybody looking for employment to visit www.generationlogistics.org to find out more about the industry and its potential opportunities. Let’s do everything we can to help change the lives of our Nation’s heroes.”
